The Ghost Machine

I awoke, and could not tell where I was. A small room, perhaps, with more space behind than in front. Everything was dark, and my eyes would not adjust. Soon I realised that I was still in bed, but even so the room felt strange, as though it were not my room, and not my bed. At first there was no sound, but after a while I heard a faint click, as if something were being switched on. A low hum followed, almost inaudible, but in the absolute stillness it might as well have been a roar. Then, the most exquisite terror seized hold of me, wave after wave of black dread, dragging me so far down that all I knew was despair. I gasped. I could not breathe, as though a crushing wall forced all air from my body. But even as I struggled, I knew I must control myself, because now someone stood behind me, I could feel it, and he, whatever he was, was waiting for me to breathe again. Even the tiniest movement would tell him where I was. So I caught my breath and kept as still as I could. The sudden onslaught I first expected did not come, but I knew he was there, waiting, reaching out his long arms, closer and closer still. I wanted to turn around, run, do anything to break the tension, but I was powerless. In any case I did not know where to go. I was trapped. I could feel my heart in his grasp. His touch annihilates.

Incorruptible

Incorruptible
Incorruptible

The limbs turn black
And won't grow back
Disease takes hold
The body fails

Impurity
Has poisoned me
And I can't help
Betray myself

Incorruptible
Incorruptible

My broken will
Lifeless and still
Your eyes blink once
Then look away

The rot seeps through
The sight of you
The final coup
Of rampant flesh

Incorruptible
Incorruptible

Futility
It beacons me
And leads me to
My last reward

Reflected in
Your leprous skin
The hecatomb
Of final days

Incorruptible
Incorruptible

In the Company of Pure Cold Wind

We are the pain of a woman in childbirth. We are the image of a dead man over water. We travel in the company of pure cold wind. We are the implacable. We are the inevitable. Our reach is vast, and our grasp holds all things. Time is our servant. The stars in the firmament do our bidding. Even the gods pay us homage. To draw back our veil is to be devoured. We are the insatiable. We are the inconsolable. Our tears will one day drown the world. To look upon us is to be annihilated. We are beyond all ken. We feast on suffering and joy alike. Our gaze binds the sun and pulls the moon from its path. Our breath robs the land of sustenance. Our touch infests with a thousand plagues. Our bite is colder than endless winter. To hear our sighs is to know a hundred lifetimes of deprivation. Our voice calls each man and woman in turn. When we call out with that voice, the mightiest cry is but a whisper, swallowed in the yawning gape of despair. Know ye despair.

Betrayal

No-one ever
Gets what he wants
And all you have
Is taken from you

Broken fingers
And broken trust
One mistake
And your life is meaningless

Kindermörderin

The Radiant Boy
Face shining cold light
Watches while you sleep
Eyes without mercy

He waits for you to wake
From this last dreamless sleep
On the eve of demise
The hopeless curse of life
